Paint No Pour
“Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.” -Edgar Degas
Trotter's Third Thursdays also known as Paint No Pour are inspired by national heritage months, student interests, and social concerns. Each month allows for participants to widen their cultural lens, expand their worldview, tap into their creative selves and participate in the multicultural celebration, education, and recognition. We encourage all members of the U of M Campus Community to come and share in these amazing experiences. Paint No Pour is free of charge, and Trotter provides all paint supplies.
This month's Paint No Pour is in celebration and recognition of LatinX Heritage Month, where we will be highlighting the writing of Gabby Rivera. Rivera is the creative behind the Marvel Comics character, America Chavez, the first LatinX queer superhero. Rivera's character is meant to redefine the typical white male superhero industry, highlight the complexities of womanhood, and bring visibility to both LatinX and queer identity. We can't wait to see you on Thursdays!
Romeo is Bleeding
This Friday, Sept 22, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm, Trotter will be hosting a screening of the documentary Romeo is Bleeding. This important film tells the story of a fatal turf war between neighborhoods in the city of Richmond, California. Donté Clark chronicles his experiences through poetry to inspire his community to rise above the violence. Clark will join us, as well as his mentor Molly Raynor, to perform his work following the screening. Dinner will also be served during the program.
Food For The Soul
A monthly event which provides students, faculty, and staff of all identities the opportunity to break bread, engage in dialogue and build relationships over traditionally prepared culturally unique food expressions.
