Health Insurance Plans for U-M Students

Despite the Affordable Care Act mandate, many U-M students still do not have health insurance or have health insurance that does not provide adequate coverage in the state of Michigan. Being uninsured or underinsured may put their education at risk and contribute to lower retention rates.

U-M offers a low-cost, comprehensive, voluntary health insurance plan for the students on our campuses through Aetna Student Health.  The annual premium for an individual student during the 2018-19 plan year is only $2084.

The university is committed to offering all students access to affordable health insurance to protect against the financial hardship that may result from unexpected medical expenses.
