Take it from Student Life's Student Legal Services: Renters insurance is a bargain. And as the new academic year approaches, so too does the start of new rental contracts between students and landlords.

If you suffer a loss from an unexpected event in your apartment such as a fire or theft, you may not be compensated. Your landlord is not responsible for any loss unless they caused it.  Students with renters insurance will be assured of a more timely replacement of essential personal property. And it's cheap!

Check with your insurance agent to find out the facts and cost involved; it may save you from problems in the future. And if you have other legal questions - whether about housing, criminal, family, consumer, or traffic law, be sure to schedule an appointment with Student Legal Services. They are your lawyer!
