Parents and Families

Dear Parents and Families,

Today, University of Michigan President Mark S. Schlissel, Provost Susan M. Collins, and Vice President for Student Life Martino Harmon provided the Campus COVID-19 Briefing, where they were joined by campus leaders to provide updates and information about campus conditions and resources.

The leaders shared additional details about U-M’s Return to Campus work approach for those staff and faculty members who are currently working remotely or in hybrid ways due to the pandemic, noting that decisions about specific plans will be determined at the school, college, and unit level. President Schlissel said the priority is to ensure the mission of the University of Michigan is achieved at the highest level, and that at our core, U-M is an in-person residential living and learning community and our goal for the fall  is to stretch toward that as much as conditions will allow.

The leaders also discussed well-being resources for students, faculty, and staff during Mental Health Month. This week’s Briefing also included a short video produced by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. The video is part of the state’s effort to get everyone vaccinated, and it was shot outside the vaccine clinic at Ford Field in Detroit.
