Parents and Families

Michigan Dining is planning to have all dining halls open for dine-in and will be featuring carry out service at 5 dining halls during Fall 2021, with hours still being finalized and will be published on their website by late summer.

Safety measures

Staff are continuing our work with University and Michigan Medicine experts and our partners in Housing to determine safety measures that will be in place. This will include:

  • sanitizing surfaces regularly with EPA-approved sanitizer for use against COVID-19
  • requiring all staff, regardless of vaccination status, to wear masks in dining facilities

Meal plans

If your student will be living in a residence hall, they will be required to have a Residential Meal Plan. This meal plan selection will be made at the time the Housing Contract is signed. If you need to make changes to your meal plan after you have signed your contract, you will be able to do so in late August via our meal plan portal, GET.

Michigan Dining has 4 different meal plans available for off-campus and apartment residents. More information on those plans can be found online. The Premium Plan is the most similar to what students living in the dorms have and any of these plans can be added via GET or by emailing
