We’ve turned the corner on winter (hopefully). Only a few more weeks of classes, then finals, and the end of the winter term.
Right now is a time of great activity and anticipation on campus. While students and faculty bear down on the completion of studies, projects and papers, it also is an exciting time. We see great works of individuals and student organizations who manifest all that is energetic and uplifting and inspiring at one of the world’s great teaching and research universities.
On April 15, we celebrate the Michigan Difference Student Leadership Awards, recognizing the outstanding accomplishments and contributions of the U-M student population. This event is one of the most delightful and gratifying moments of our time with your student. In a red-carpet gala – far more meaningful than the Oscars – we give tribute to all that is valued and cherished in the core work of the university. Most of all, we celebrate the development of our students as “leaders and best.”
It is a fitting climax to a year of scholarship, campus engagement, community service and personal achievements. It showcases the vitality and the value of a Michigan education. It also affirms the passionate work of faculty and Student Life professsionals to help students become capable, creative, compassionate members of a global society.
Another school year is ending, another class will graduate, another horizon appears. To all of our parents whose students are graduating, my sincere congratulations! Whether your student is coming home for the summer, staying in Ann Arbor for continued studies, or moving on to another life journey, I know you will stay connected.
You and your student are our extended family, always. And we are here for both of you, always. Please, keep in touch, by email to email@example.com or by phone (734) 764-5132.
I wish you and your student a wonderful summer. For all of us in Student Life, we are grateful for this time with your student.
