Parents and Families

Upon arrival at the University of Michigan this fall, your student will receive a Safety Kit to ensure they have the appropriate items for a safe start to the academic year. The kit will include:

  • Two bandanas
  • Two reusable cloth face masks
  • One 2 oz hand sanitizer.

Students who have NOT already picked up their kit, can now pick theirs up at a CIC location.

What is included in the Safety Kit?

Each Safety Kit will include two reusable face masks, two bandanas, hand sanitizer, and a health and well-being tip sheet.

Where do I get my kit?

There are a few options:

  • If you are an off-campus undergrad athlete or graduate/professional student, you will receive instructions from your program.
  • If you are an undergrad and reside in University Housing, you will receive them at your residence hall.
  • If you are an undergrad living off campus, you can pick up your kit at designated locations:

The Diag on Central Campus or The Grove on North Campus.

In case of inclement weather, please go to the following locations: Central Campus: Hatcher Library South entrance
North Campus: Duderstadt overhang facing the Lurie Tower

When can I pick up my Safety Kit?

Students who have NOT already picked up their kit, can now pick theirs up at a CIC location.

Can I pick up a Safety Kit for my friend/roommate/parent/partner?

No. These kits are only available to current U-M students who will be participating in on-campus instruction this fall. Students may only pick up one Safety Kit per person.

Will there be safety measures in place during pickup?

Yes. The U-M policy requires masks be worn on U-M campus, both indoors and outdoors. The table set-up at both locations will be spread out to avoid overcrowding. The lines leading up to each distribution table will have 6ft markers to promote physical distancing. Student Life staff will also be monitoring the areas to ensure precautions are being followed.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

Please bring your M-card.

What if I do not want a Safety Kit?

You are not required to come pick up your Safety Kit if you do not want one.
