Support Available for DACA Students

In October, the White House decided it would no longer accept initial or renewal applications for persons in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

If you are a parent/family member of an undocumented or DACA student, you may be concerned about your student's status at the university.

Your student is welcome at the university. In a recent statement to the campus community, U-M President Mark Schlissel stressed the university's commitment to serving undocumented and DACA students’ “opportunity to study [at the University of Michigan] as both the right thing to do and in our nation’s best interest.”

If you or your student are looking for resources around their immigration status, please DACA Resources for helpful contacts and links.

If your student feels anxious regarding their status or wants to talk with someone, please encourage them to  visit Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) for confidential counseling.

Your student is welcome at U-M, and they make the university stronger.
