Blue Bucks are the campus currency at Michigan and provide convenience and peace of mind for students and parents. Because they’re loaded electronically on a student’s Mcard, there's no need to carry cash.
With just a swipe of the Mcard - the essential campus ID - Blue Bucks are used for food, vending, laundry and more. They are easy to use and accepted for all sorts of purchases across campus - and only on campus. Blue Bucks cannot be spent at off-campus stores and shops.
Your student can grab a snack or beverage at any of 40+ cafes or restaurants at the unions, residence halls, library cafes, and more. Maybe it's a quick pick-me-up from Au Bon Pain café bakery in the Michigan Union, or a snack between classes at U-go's Express in the Michigan League. On North Campus, Pierpont Commons has a variety of food options including the new Fireside Café. Blue Bucks also can cover a book or fan gear at Barnes & Noble.
If your student lives on campus, they don’t need to hoard quarters. They can use Blue Bucks in the residential vending machines or to wash and dry their clothes in the laundry room.
Blue Bucks are always handy because they’re right on the Mcard. And they can be purchased online 24/7 and available in just seconds. They never expire and are refundable! You can purchase Blue Bucks for your student in a couple of easy ways:
Student Account – Blue Bucks charged directly to your student’s U-M account anytime throughout the year as long as the account is in good standing.
Online – Your student can authorize a family member to access his or her MyPlan account and make Blue Bucks deposits. You can also check the Blue Bucks balance to know when your student may be in need of a bit more campus currency. (Note: Blue Bucks not spent will roll over from term to term.)
