Whether students are leaving Ann Arbor during the Thanksgiving recess, or staying here, Student Life offers some information that may be helpful to you.

If you are staying in Ann Arbor:

Lock up!

Before you leave for the long weekend, secure your valuable items like computers, cameras, etc. and lock all doors and windows to your room, apartment or rental house.  Close window blinds and drapes, and don't leave valuables in sight.  You might consider taking portable electronics like laptops and iPads, jewelry, and other small valuables with you.  The majority of all thefts happen through unlocked doors and windows.

Don't turn off the heat

Close your windows and leave the heat on in your house or apartment at a level that will prevent the pipes from freezing and bursting.  This will help you protect your possessions and avoid a very nasty cleanup or worse when you return from the break.

Fire prevention

Turn off or unplug appliances, including coffee pots, computers, printers, copiers, and lights to avoid over-heating.  This also reduces electrical consumption.

If you are leaving Ann Arbor for the holiday:

Airbus to the airport

CSG offers Airbus service to students with frequent and comfortable rides to and from the Detroit Metropolitan Airport for $7 - $11.  For more information, visit http://csgairbus.com/, the CSG office, or the Michigan Union Ticket Office.
