Whether you’re looking to meet new people, pursue new interests, or develop new skills, the units and programs of Student Life will enhance your Michigan experience.

Support for First Year and Transfer Students

Here are some resources that are especially designed to help you navigate your first year at Michigan. (Be sure to check out the other resources in the following sections, too.)

  • ALA 171: A one-credit, seven-week course that connects students to community, campus, and resources 
  • Campus Information Center: The university resource for all things U-M and Ann Arbor
  • Resource Navigators: Individualized support for students looking to connect to specific interests and find their way around campus 
  • Things to Do: A weekly email sent to all students that highlights campus events and opportunities

  • Housing: Support for students living in Michigan residence halls
  • Maize and Blue Cupboard: Offers resources and education for students experiencing food insecurity
  • Michigan Dining: U-M’s on-campus dining resource with information on menus, meal plans, nutrition, locations, and more
  • University Unions: Students can visit U-M’s three student union buildings to eat, study, relax, and connect
