When students work, they can earn an income and gain valuable work experience. And when they work on campus, they don't have to look far for a job that’s flexible and can help make a difference.
Two of the largest employers on campus are Michigan Housing and Michigan Dining, which each offer starting wages of $15/hour and most positions require no prior experience as well as student management positions at higher wages.
Michigan Housing
If your student is looking for a part-time job that lets them build community and chat to people, all with a commute consisting of a walk downstairs, look no further than Housing’s Community Center Assistant (CCA) positions. Open even to new incoming students, these positions provide excellent quality service to residents, staff, and visitors in the residential community. CCAs work a minimum of 10 hours a week, and about 15 hours a week on average. Michigan Housing recognizes that CCAs have other academic, personal, and professional time commitments as well — especially new students — so Housing staff are always willing to discuss strategies to help balance the CCA responsibilities with other time commitments as needed.
Your student can learn more about the position and apply online.
Michigan Dining
With student employees from all majors and around the world, MDining offers plenty of opportunities for students to connect. MDining jobs offer flexible schedules and convenient locations all across campus that mesh with students' schedules, helping redefine what it means to work from home.
Positions and internships are available in general food service, sustainability, marketing, training and development, and information technology (IT). Students can get started by visiting Dining’s student employment webpage and following the links to fill out the interest form.
