We look forward to hosting Parents & Family Weekend in September 2022, during an already exciting weekend when the campus will be welcoming back its alumni to celebrate Homecoming in Ann Arbor.
When determining the schedule of Parents & Family Weekend, there are a number of factors taken into consideration, including availability of football tickets for parents and families to experience a game at the Big House. In 2022, the football schedule does not allow any option to host Parents & Family Weekend in October or early November, when Student Life has traditionally hosted Parents & Family Weekend on campus.
We recognize that Rosh Hashanah begins at sundown on Sunday September 25, 2022, which may make it difficult for many families to attend Parents & Family Weekend. Official events during Parents & Family Weekend are scheduled primarily on Friday and Saturday and will be completed by 1:00 pm on Sunday.
We also acknowledge that sharing the weekend with Homecoming will make campus pretty busy, and we considered that holding Parent and Family Weekend in mid-November, just prior to many students returning home for Thanksgiving, was not ideal timing.
All of these considerations made the scheduling of Parents and Family Weekend 2022 challenging, and we recognize and appreciate the difficulties that some of our families will face in determining their participation. We appreciate your flexibility, patience, and understanding as we work to plan a meaningful experience for you and your students next fall.
Fee Waiver 2022
We recognize the financial commitment required for families to attend Parents & Family Weekend. While there are many no-cost events throughout the weekend, costs associated with other events and travel, and the $50 Parents & Family Weekend registration fee can be barriers to attending Parents & Family Weekend for some families.
The Parents & Family Weekend Fee Waiver is a need-based award that provides financial assistance to defray the expense of attending Parents & Family Weekend. The waiver covers the registration fee for Parents & Family Weekend and tickets to the Parents & Family Weekend Tailgate. The fee waiver does not pay for football tickets or travel costs.
The Parents & Family Weekend Fee Waiver is designed to provide assistance to the families of those students with financial need as demonstrated by the student’s financial aid package. Priority consideration will be given to those students receiving the Go Blue Guarantee, the Federal Pell Grant, and/or those with an EFC of $0 as determined by the Office of Financial Aid. Any parent or guardian of a current, full-time undergraduate student receiving financial aid is eligible to apply for a Parents & Family Weekend Fee Waiver.
Applications are due no later than Wednesday, July 20, 2022. Families will be notified of the decision regarding the fee waiver via email on a rolling basis. Families receiving a fee waiver will be automatically registered for Parents & Family Weekend.

All application and Parents & Family Weekend Fee Waiver decisions will remain strictly confidential. Recipients will be privately notified and will not be publicly identified.

Dear Wolverine Families,
There are three very special times in the academic year when we typically get to welcome parents and families to campus: move-in, end-of-year activities, and of course, Parents & Family Weekend.
The special time that you share with your Wolverine during Parent & Family Weekend is unique because it is a time that focuses entirely on welcoming you—the ones who made and defined their first home. While Michigan may become their “home away from home” during their academic career, we know that everything you have done for them, all of the support and encouragement that you have shown them throughout their lives until now, is precisely what prepared them to join the Leaders & Best. And it’s our privilege and pleasure to host you on campus and help your student show you what they love so much about being here.
We are grateful that you have chosen to entrust your students to the University of Michigan. The lessons they learn here go far beyond the classroom, and the bonds they form with their fellow Wolverines will last a lifetime. This weekend, we invite you to experience this with them.
