Did You Know about U-M’s Multicultural lounges?

This year celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Multicultural Lounge Program and the impact the program has had on the Michigan campus community. Michigan Housing's Diversity and Inclusion Office shares a brief history of the Multicultural Lounge Program and the individuals honored as a part of the program.

Among these lounges are spaces dedicated to specific Black activists, to student activism, including the 3 Black Action Movements, and influential leaders. In addition, multicultural lounges celebrate the women with whom we have lounges named in their honor. Visit the associated links to learn more about each multicultural lounge’s creation and history.

Use of the lounges is by reservation. If your student is interested in learning more about the Multicultural Lounge Program or in partnering on or hosting a Multicultural Lounge Anniversary event virtually in the spaces, please contact [email protected]
