The Student Life sustainability mission is simple:
To embrace University-wide efforts and become a campus leader in sustainability by involving, educating and changing the behaviors of students and staff.
We believe Student Life is uniquely positioned within the University to make a substantial contribution to sustainability. Our facility footprint approaches nearly a fifth of all land on the Ann Arbor campus, so even the smallest change in policy, if implemented widely, can have a big effect. Virtually 100% of the student body interacts with at least one of our facilities or units --interactions of real quality, where we have an opportunity to pass on sustainable habits and principles for life.
Five sustainability goals from U-M Planet Blue are in the areas of Energy, Waste, Community, Food and Water.
