Our Time Together

Giving thanks, to you and your student

As the Thanksgiving holiday comes near, I’d like to take this opportunity to share with you what I am very thankful for... I’m thankful for you, and the ability to have served your family through your students’ university experience. I have cherished, over these past 20 years, being able to support U-M students as they grow into their best selves.

It is with deep gratitude that I am announcing my retirement, effective January 17, 2020. While this was an incredibly difficult decision to make, I am ready and excited for this next adventure.

I have been so fortunate to spend time with our "a-maizing" U-M students. Our students are smart, kind and have enormous character. They have a deep regard for others.

I know that Student Life will continue to engage with students and support their learning and development. After all, students are the heart and hope of our institution.

I am so proud of the ethos of care that permeates this university – demonstrated in so many ways, every day. It reveals itself in our mission to promote the broad public good while addressing the individual needs of all students to thrive. I feel honored to have been able to play a role in advancing this mission during my tenure.

And as we reflect on our blessings, please keep in mind an upcoming opportunity to express your gratitude as well: Giving Blueday on Tuesday, December 3, 2019.

This is a day for everyone who is thankful for U-M to join together to support students, transform lives, shape the world, and make more great things happen. You can support the causes, schools, units, or student organizations that you feel most passionate about. You can make a difference in thousands of lives and have an impact on the future of our world. You can become a “victor for Michigan” through your donations.

In the meantime, thank you for allowing me to support your students in their endeavors. I have so many cherished memories.

As ever, please contact this office – [email protected], or (734) 764-5132 – or any of my Student Life colleagues whenever we can be of service to you.

To help Student Life continue making a difference in students' lives, please consider making a gift.
