Our Time with Your Student

When we think about how quickly our children grow and move into adulthood, “time flies” is an understatement, isn’t it? We are already almost a month into the new school year. Does it seem like yesterday your student was moving into their new residence hall, house or apartment?

Students are now immersed in their classes, studying diligently; student groups and activities are in full swing, and life for the campus community is busier than ever.

So do not be surprised if you’re not hearing from your student as often -- it’s a good sign that they’re growing more independent, immersing themselves in their studies, making new friends and learning more about themselves as they explore all that the University of Michigan and Ann Arbor have to offer.

In the meantime, we hope you are looking forward to the upcoming Parents and Family Weekend, taking place October 4-6. Unable to make it to campus this November, or missed signing up on time? Then perhaps you can attend a Fall athletic event with your student, and consider spending time together in Ann Arbor or at home during Fall Study Break (October 14-15).

And if you have any concerns or questions for other opportunities, remember to connect with us, Student Life. Our sole purpose is making sure your student is making positive connections and developing their potential. In Student Life, your student will find programs and services to help them realize their potential, through personal guidance and connecting them with people and organizations that provide context to their academic and social aspirations.

This chapter in your students’ lives is a thrilling, experiential, and cherished time of growth and we’re thrilled to be a part of it.
