The history, science and art of coffee were the areas of focus at the Michigan Coffee Conference hosted by University Unions at Pierpont Commons on May 10-11, 2012. About a dozen University Unions Food Service staff and several student staff from the coffee cafes, including Bert’s and Beanster’s, also attended the conference to sharpen their barista skills.
SAPAC has created a collaborative project with the University of Michigan Museum of Art(UMMA) entitled, “Paths to Renewal,” which is a virtual exhibit to commemorate SAPAC's 25th Anniversary at the University of Michigan. On March 12, the U-M Debate program officially qualified three teams to the 2012 National Debate Tournament, which will be held at Emory University on March 30 - April 2. U-M was only one of six teams in the country to qualify the maximum of three teams, and the first time since 2000 that U-M has qualified three teams to the NDT.
The "Take Your Professor or GSI to Lunch" program continues for the winter 2012 semester! The program offers students and faculty an opportunity to enjoy lunch together for FREE.
The Dean of Students’ Office is sponsoring free personal safety and self-defense workshops this term . There’s one this Wednesday March 7th from 6:00-7:30 PM in 3275 CCRB. Students can register in advance, but walk-ins are also welcome.
Center for Japanese Studies' events marking the one-year anniversary of the earthquakes and tsunami in Northeastern Japan begin this week. The photo exhibition, “PhotoVoice: 3/11 Disasters through Women’s Lenses,” will be opened with a public reception this Thursday, March 8th (5:30-6:30pm). The exhibition will be on view in the International Institute’s Gallery space from March 8th through the end of April.
