Winter Go Blues

For students, winter semester provides an opportunity for a "do-over." After reflecting on fall semester, they can re-prioritize and re-engage in both their studies and co-curricular activities.

Maybe they want to get more involved in student organizations, or drop some commitments in order to focus on what’s most important now. Sophomore Harrison Grias explains, "The best thing about winter semester is starting over. This term, I plan to get involved in more clubs."

Our Time with Your Student

As a family member of a Michigan undergraduate, you know one thing for sure: our students are always in motion, moving from classes, projects, jobs, clubs, activism, service, not to mention all time they spend working on their futures after graduation. And in all that rush and energy, it can be easy for students to forget to take the “break” in Spring Break. And yet the university’s Spring Break, which begins February 25, is an invaluable moment in the year to pause and decompress.

Summer Sublet Tips for Your Student

Smart Summer Sublease Tips

Is your student planning to sublet their place this summer? If so, it's important for your student to understand their rights and responsibilities to ensure they don't run into any issues at the end of the summer. Encourage your student to consider these tips, resources, and opportunities as they navigate subletting.

Etiquette is a Step to Success

To prepare to enter the work world, students can learn business and dining etiquette right on campus. From an initial lunch meeting to an internship interview, to the first day on the job, some basic rules apply.

"While students learn basic manners and etiquette from their home life, business and dining etiquette adds a different twist," explains Keith Soster, director of Student Engagement, who offers etiquette workshops to U-M students throughout the year.

Highlights of Your Student's Journey

Journey - Discover - Connect - Thrive

As another school year wraps up, we invite you to join us in reflecting on your student’s first years: the journey that felt as though it may never begin, the trek that was over much too fast, the many experiences that shaped your student throughout the first years at U-M. The path of each student is unique, and your student was able to discover much about who they are throughout their college years. What did your student find out about themselves, their career path, their interests?
