As you may already know, the university is in contract negotiations with the union representing graduate student instructors (GSIs) and graduate student staff assistants (GSSAs). The union has voted to authorize a strike, empowering the union’s leadership to call a work stoppage at any time. Earlier today, U-M undergraduate students received the below message from Provost Laurie McCauley. Your Wolverine’s education remains a priority and classes and instruction will continue. Update on labor negotiations
The University of Michigan has submitted a petition to the state to initiate the fact-finding process in an effort to resolve its ongoing contractual dispute with the Graduate Employees’ Organization. The university’s petition for fact finding comes six months after bargaining began and five days after its negotiating team provided GEO with a comprehensive package in response to all outstanding issues.
